‘Unbothered’: Clip of dancing Rassie has Saffas amused [video]
Rassie Erasmus’ Dance Clip Goes Viral After World Rugby Snub
A meme-worthy clip of Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus dancing in response to his World Rugby “snub” has left many South Africans amused. The video, which dates back to 2021, was shared on the SA Rugby social media account.
Rassie Dancing Meme Has Fans Amused
Last weekend, South Africans expressed their disappointment after Rassie Erasmus was overlooked for the World Rugby Coach of the Year award. Despite leading South Africa to two consecutive World Cup victories, the award went to French Sevens coach Jérôme Daret instead.
In response to this snub, SA Rugby Magazine posted the viral clip of Erasmus dancing, captioned: “A coach who is unbothered about being snubbed for individual awards.” The video, set to the tune of Tyler ICU and Khalil Harrison’s Jealous, quickly caught the attention of fans.
South Africans flooded the comments with reactions:
@mbongeni_myende: “Admin, you’re the man of the match for the perfect song choice.” @bongixxi: “No DNA just RSA, vibez.” @nolutha209: “Rassie has 50m South Africans behind him. Who cares about those jealous, miserable grey shoes at World Rugby?”
Dad Dance Moves
The clip, which originally went viral in December 2021, was shared by Erasmus himself during a boozy festive celebration. Known for his “dad dance moves,” Rassie, a father of three daughters, joked about embarrassing his kids with his dance moves.
He tweeted: “Time to get back at my twins!! Apparently they can embarrass anytime but parents not! Remember I am white and have no rhythm, but hell I want to make the Gwijo Squad.”
Rassie Erasmus Unfazed by the Snub
In a more serious tone, Rassie indirectly responded to being snubbed for the Coach of the Year award. Posting a voice note on X, he urged South Africans to “stay nice and humble, support each other, and help us keep our feet on the ground.”
He added, “We play for you guys and for South Africa, also for those abroad who understand and see what we stand for as the Springboks – I appreciate that a lot. At the end of the day, it is all just a game that we are all proud of.”
